Our first dining experience in Mountpelier was at the El Jalicience Mexican Restaurant. We were both hungry and ready to try out a new Mexican food restaurant. The restaurant was lively and clean. The hostess was happy and sat us immediately. The place was about half-full around 3 pm.

We were served water with chips, salsa and refried beans. The salsa was not our favorite but it was fresh. Diane had the Chile Relleno and I ordered a Chile Relleno Burrito. We had discussed before going in that it seems that some Mexican food tastes bland. This was no exception. The portions were good and the food good enough that we will consider going back our next time through.

As a side note, one thing I struggle with is folks letting their children watch shows or play games on their phones or iPads with the volume up high so it can be heard throughout the restaurant. Maybe some headphones could help?
